@tv101 The first time I saw a video of Foxes and Fossils was a few years ago. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing. It's a video from 2010 and the girls were 15 and 16 years old at the time. And the bass player is phenomenal.

Not bad at all @marcel!
Reminds me of a band I played in back in schooldays. Β Bassist (and drummer, but that's another story) was a big Who fan, so he'd modelling his playing on John Entwistle - another "not bad at all" bassist.
So the bass player was playing all over the fretboard, up and down, all the strings, all the frets, really active playing!

Β
We had to explain though, that whilst his playing *looked* similar to Entwistle's, Entwistle wasn't playing *random* notes in his own timing ...

Another band who do a great job are The Fendertones. They cover Beach Boys songs, which by no means is a simple task considering the great vocal harmonies and the recording methods used by Brian Wilson with lots of double tracking on vocals as well as instruments.Β

I have recently been revisiting the works of Van Halen due to Eddie sadly dying recently. He was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands and moved with his parents and older brother (Alex) to California, USA. The rest is history, he became arguably the greatest rock guitar player that has ever been.Β
One song that has stuck with me at the moment (because Iβm learning how to play it) is Summer Nights from the 5150 album (Sammy Hagar era). Love it!Β
Here is a live version.Β

Awesome...last time I heard this was last summer in Vegas sat in Sammy Hagarβs joint...Cabo Wabo Cantina...drinking Cabo Wabo tequila margaritas with the missus...then a live band..😎
I donβt remember leaving the bar 🤣 but what a great night.
Good luck learning the song....RIP Eddie, you was a genius.
@boo you need an 80βs custom Steinberger headless..
I have too many guitars...said no one in the world..ever!

Yeah I know but there is a way of playing it without. Itβs not easy but it wouldnβt be fun or challenging if it wasnβt difficult. Iβll never be able to play it all anyway but itβs worth a go! 😁🤘🎸

Looking through my old record collection. This one jumped out at me as my Song For This Moment.Β
I know there is a picture of the In Rock album and that Black Night wasn't on the album but that's YouTube for you. Enjoy.

Excellent Tony. I never got a chance to see them first time around. I remember waiting what seemed like a lifetime for MK II to reform then luckily managed to see them on their reunion tour. I remember shaking with sheer excitement through every song. Took me days to come down again.

I remember Nazareth in 1971 playing in Ayr, I think it was a venue called the Dam Park which had a big concert hall, athletic track and football pitch. After the gig they were chasing all the female students and lots of people went to a party in someone's flat. They sounded good but I wasn't into music in those days, just rugby and remember thinking that musicians seemed to be more popular than rugby players so maybe I should give it a try.
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
@Russ - I used to listen to John Peel most evenings back in the '70s, 10pm to midnight on a poxy old MW radio (under a pillow) with all the crackles and interference, etc.
I remember the first time I heard Teenage Kicks.Β Twice on the same show!Β Still puts a tingle down my spine hearing it today.
That is definitely a tune for the moment for all time.

A little bit of reminiscence. This is My Favourite Song For This Moment.
That sort of thing should really *never* have been broadcast.
If impressionable early-teenage (I might not even have been that old!) boys saw things like that on TV, they could grow up with, well, "feelings" for ladies in leather catsuits.
That, and re-runs of Diana Rigg in the Avengers.Β Should have been banned.
Too late now ...
