My grandparents always told me that those times were a lot simpler that these days where every fellow student of me is watching their phone 24/7...
Your grandkids (OK, I'm making an assumption there) won't believe that people in the 2020s walked around looking at a separate handheld device!Β They'll have an inbuilt chip and a head-up display.Β No need for a separate device.
Actually, that might well happen in the lifetime of your kids, not your grandkids.

And whilst on the subject of "it was better then" ...
There's been millions of songs written, recorded and released since this.Β How many of them are "better"?

I remember buying this box set (mail order) way back in those good old days;
It was long before I had a bank account, cheque book, credit card (PayPal 😆 ) and my parents were away somewhere.Β Had to persuade my old nan to write a cheque to the shop so I could order it.Β Played all 4 LPs time and time again when it arrived.
And I've still got it today, though the vinyl's not been played for decades.

@louis-kerckhove Iβm glad I grew up in time that I did, before the internet and all of this computer technology. It was a much simpler time and much better in many ways. I love the fact that all of this tech has come about now that I am older and more responsible, it would have been hell as a teenager, they can be hard times in your life anyway. So I have enjoyed the freedoms of pre internet and now live with its advantages. Iβve also learned about its disadvantages and curbed my usage of it, it can be very bad for you. I stay away from news articles and conspiracy theories, itβs incredibly damaging to vulnerable or gullible people. I watch the news on the TV from time to time and thatβs it. My time spent online is everything guitar related and that will do for me, the rest of my time I spend in the real world, doing real things. Make sure you get a balance of real world and sensible internet world, it is a fantastic resource but is wildly open to abuse.Β

The 70s were very different to life today. There was no internet, cell phones, day time tv and bars in the UK closed at 22.00 hrs. There was still a good music scene world wide which started in the 60s, but in my opinion 80s music was terrible. A lot of it here was political anti establishment style and had a destructive theme like punk rock.
When the digital age started the focus moved away from live musicians playing together in recording, to individuals playing one at a time with a click track and the sound engineer putting everything together. The demise of valve amps also changed the sound that people made.
Many great musicians also died from drugs.
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
My favourite song today:
Madness really passed me by first-time around @Marcel.Β Bit too much of a "pop" band.Β But seeing them work a crowd, and all the energy, shows they're a bit more than just a pop band.
Liberty of Norton Folgate is an excellent album (if you've not already listened to it), though it's a bit London-centric if you're not a London-person.
😀
