Its difficult to say why Irish bands always seem happy, probably due to cheerfulness from adversity as a lot of the music originated from hard times like the 1840s famine and emigration. Traditional music was banned in Ireland for many years by the church because it was thought to be the Devils music, particularly fiddle playing. It only became popular again in the later 20th Century and strangely the BBC played a part by encouraging people like Seamus Ennis to tour the country and make recordings. Itโs origins are Neo Classical and some University studies have demonstrated how Classical/Baroque composers have lifted melodies from Irish tunes which already existed.
Anyway boring history lesson over, the Saw Doctors are great. I remember in 1999 I was at Cambridge Violin making school doing a week and the Cambridge Folk Festival was just starting on the last night a Friday. Four of us sat out in the back garden of our rented house, sun shining, drinking wine and listening to them being the opening act. It was one of those magic moments that stays with you for ever. So thanks for posting this tune and reminding me of happier times. Back down to earth the next day when I got home, Scotland was cold wet and miserable.
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
It was great to get back to work today, Iโm so tired but itโs a good tired. Iโm gonna be aching tomorrow a bit so I may need some painkiller. 🤘😁🤘🎸ย

Top song @boo! Glad that youโre back to some peaceful gardening and bringing home the bacon. 👍
What a monumental, killer track. Itโs such an ass kicker top to bottom, like Freewheel Burning taken up a few notches.
Like everyone I love Glennโs solo on this one (itโs practically half the song) but I reallyย love K.K.โs at the end, itโs such a ripper!
My old neighborhood in Berlin also knows that solo really well cause earlier this year before we moved I was working a lot of late shifts and every night on the way home I would listen to this song and as I was driving though the hood I would absolutely blast K.Kโs solo with the windows down, and then rewind it and play it again so no one was left out. At least 4 or 5 nights a week. Usually around 12:30 or so. I thought for sure they were gonna gang up and mob me but they never did! 😂😂😂

Didnโt think that kind of behaviour is allowed in Germany

Haha, no most certainly not and thatโs definitely part of the reason why I did it!
