Ebony is just so nice looking. My favorite however is purpleheart for fretboards more so than rosewood.

Also, purpleheart is cheaper and easier to get. And it's purple.........

Measure once, cut straight away and maybe you're lucky......

I thought that purple turns into brown after a good while? Don't know if that is true or not.

Can you explain ? cause I am also interested in using purpleheart, but not if it turns brown 🙂

If you treat it right it will stay purple. I've built a thinline Tele with a purpleheart top and neck a good few years ago and it's still a beautiful purple colour. I sprayed the body with 2k polyurethane and finished the neck with wipe-on poly. I think purpleheart discoulors under the influence of UV, correct me if I'm wrong....
