I didn’t have a back room before and I don’t have one now either. I wish I did as having something separate/private would be nice but not essential.
@mattbeels Can you not partition some of it off to create a private area. I’m not saying build a wall but perhaps some tall shelving units could break the space up a bit. Just a thought. 👍
Funny you should ask, the Misses and I were discussing that very thing earlier. I do need some shelving and using it to break things up is looking like a great idea.

Great minds homie, great minds... 😉
@mattbeels Yeah it just came to me and I just thought it was the obvious thing to consider, it kills two birds with one stone. You get storage space and it breaks the space up so you get a makeshift back room. 🤘😁🤘🎸
Well I guess we now know what yours really looks like!
👍
It's much more comfortable in there now. Plus I have to keep it clean and dust-free. Before there was sawdust *everywhere*. And odd bits of wood. And tools.
It was a mess.
This is much nicer, and I'm much happier in there.
(see other thread re only thinking what our wives allow/tell us to think).

Hi @robin. I've forgotten, Is your shed 8'x6' or 10'x 8'. I've got an 8'x6' shed that I'm thinking of building a bench into. What width is your bench going to be?

My shed is 8'x6', I'm making an L shaped bench. The bench across the back is 700mm deep, which is about as far as I can comfortably reach. The bench along the side is 490mm, that takes it to the inside face of the door frame. The tops are 18mm plywood, cut to size from an 8'x4' sheet at B&Q. The frame I've made is solid enough I think, and I've still got a really solid bech in my garage if I need to do any heavy duty work.
Are you going to put any insulation board in the spaces between the wall verticals? You could then make guitars outdoors all year around rather than being trapped indoors where other jobs might need doing! 🤣 🤣

I had thought about insulation and did some reading about it. It seems there should be an air gap between the insulation and the outer cladding to stop condensation gathering getting trapped in there. The wall verticals are only 40mm thick so there's not much space there, and not much budget left either. But it's spring now, the cold has gone until next winter.
