Waxed & buffed
And first coat of the French polish on the back
I think the back is a piece of bicolour Ash. I think. It was originally intended as a (front) cap, but I've got more pieces of special front-caps than I'm ever going to use, so this piece was repurposed.

A before & after comparison to show the effect of the finishing on this one;
Now waiting for the rear string ferrule block and some right-length neck bolts to arrive before I can finish the putting togethering.

So, which shape shall I set the machine on cutting next?
😋
I do want to try a more extensively / noticeably carved top. This one is really more of a stretched or flattened round over rather than anything more shapely.
I’ve long fancied the idea of a semi-hollow Bandsman shaped guitar with a nicely carved top ….
And I also want to try designing some pickup rings that aren’t rings and are inset into the top of the guitar rather than protrude from it.
And I’m going to try some inlay designs, using the CNC to cut the designs with some contrasting powders for inlays.
Lots to do.

And here it is - finished.
A couple of aesthetic things I'll tidy up - the jack plate is current chrome because I didn't have a black or gold one, so I'll sort that. There's a chrome string tree on it too, which'll also get swapped next time I place an order with Axesrus. May also get a black cover for the neck pickup as the current chrome doesn't really fit with the black 'n' gold. I've already got the gold pickup screws ...
Needs a final intonation, but I'm just waiting for the neck to settle and tweak the truss rod (if necessary) before I do the final intonating.
Quick plug in, quick strum, and I'm happy with it 🙂
