Got most of the routing done today, floyd lines up nice too. Still waiting on a cavity template set that should've been here last week before I do any more. Well apart for the belly carve, I could do that lol.

Got the middle aged man belly carve done today, held the binding on to see how it'll look. Top carve will be down to the binding.

One thing to keep in mind concerning your cream binding. If you’re going to spray clear on it, the clear could make it darker and closer to the pickup rings. It does depend on the clear too. Some dry crystal clear some are formulated specifically to give that yellowing look. I guess that may be a vintage clear. Dunno.

I’m jealous of that engraver. I backed one on Kickstarter in 2019 and it made it to production. However, I don’t think I’ll ever get mine since it’s been 4 years. That’s 2 things I’ve lost money on through kickstarter. I’ve backed 25 or 16 I think. Several music related items too. I got all those, just not the engraver or cooler. 😞

@rathius It might do the trick, I tend to start with thinned down oil based polyurethane which adds a tint, then shellac sanding sealer and finally regular 1k matt clear, car stuff. Looks like an oil finish but very even.

@rathius they're so cheap now for a home kit, you can start off small and expand it as you go too. Bigger area, more powerful laser, air assist etc. This one set me back £320 but if I was happy to wait a month or two I could get it cheaper

That's the top carved, by hand of course. Recessed the controls too. Next up I think it'll be the binding then a lot of sanding.

Well had a bit of finish issues, hard to see in the pic but I sanded through the polyurethane in areas creating light patches, anyway I sanded it all back and now ready to spray again. Hoping the weather is dry tomorrow.
