@nsj I just ordered 3 of their stains for the first time, will take 6 weeks to get to me, grrrr! I have had success with the oils so hope the stains work just as well, cheers
I've used the Crimson stains on numerous builds. I've found them really easy to use, and reliable - in that they produce the colour that they should produce (as long as the wood is prepared properly).
Plenty of YT vids on using them too.

Well I can't say I'm super happy with staining but it's my first time so I'll let it slide lol.
That looks good enough to me!
👍
I've never really found a stain colour that works really well on mahogany-type wood - plain finishes are good.

First coating of hard wax oil is now on, got to leave it till tomorrow to add more. It's a satin clear. I'm going to be using wax over the top to create more sheen.
I suspect I might not have used enough for the first coat, think you're meant to be pretty liberal with it till the wood stops absorbing but hey ho, I'll just add more coats if need be.
Staining often doesn’t always look good on the first coat. Sometimes you have to rub down and apply more. Repeat until you get an even stain.
One trick is to make a solution of gelatine and warm water in the proportion of 30 g Gelatine to 1 litre of water. Paint on while still warm and let it dry, then sand lightly to take off the raised grain. This will allow stain to be even.
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
Well after a bit of faffing about I think I'm fairly happy now. Next job, assembly
Well this turned out nice! Specs are, brazillian mahogany neck and body, neck through, warman destrpyer pickups, gotoh floyd and tuners, ebony board with aluminium tubing side dots and fret markers.
Full build on my youtube as usual, NSJGuitars, mahogany neck through. Final assembly and try out vid will be up soon.
@rocknroller912 sort of, eventually lol. Learnt a lot though and next time it'l be flawless first go! 🤣

My experience is that a lot of the finish is in the prep, and don't worry if it looks crap along the way - the intermediate stages often look a bit dodgy but it comes good in the end.
