Well I was hoping to play this out a bit for a little fun but mr @boo just had to butt in and spoil it, thanks jerky! 😆😘
@mattbeels Sorry to spoil your fun Matt, that was my error. I couldn’t resist a joke about Americans and the English language. 🤣 I love Americans just as much as the rest of the human race, I am not prejudiced. 👍
That's just a quick set of connections to test that the actual board works. It does.
There's a daughterboard in the kit to which the ribbon connector will connect, and the jacks (and switch!) then connect to the daughterboard. Then I can fit it all into the pedal case and we're good to go rocking ...
Turns out that I didn't have any knobs small enough to fit 6 on the case!
And also turns out that I should have read the second part of the instructions, before completing the first set. Hence there's no LED showing to the left of the on/off switch. Need to work out a workaround to that (and get another LED).
For anyone interested, the controls are;
TOP, L to R; Vol - Presence - Gain
BOTTOM, L to R; Treble - Middle - Bass
From the website blurb;
A huge gain range, from slightly dirty boost to all-out distortion, coupled with an incredibly versatile active 3-band EQ, makes this a one-stop-dirt-shop.
Add the Presence control into the mix and you have control over the top and upper mids, essentially a brightness control.
Which is fairly accurate. It's certainly got some boosty buzz to it!
@tv101 Well done Dell, it’s looking good. I really don’t have the patience for that kind of thing, I’m glad that you do. You must get the case painted though.
... and another little project (actually, two), starts life looking like this;
I'm thinking that the little PCB ("cone cranker" = tube-like breakup) would fit nicely into a guitar build. Some on-board electrickeryonics.
The second PCB is an amp. A "Noisy Cricket" amp. It's an evil little thing. I've got some speakers lying around, so will need to make an amp cab to house one, and then have this sat on top. I made another variant of this a while back, but had to cannibalise that slightly, so this is the replacement (they were really hard to find when lockdown #1 hit last year as the world seemed to be after them!).
Both are really simple, but it's all good soldering practice.
It seemed a little cheeky to ask @Boo - but if you fancy having a play
@tv101 No, don’t be daft, it’s not cheeky to ask. I’ll paint anything for anyone (within reason). My PayPal is always ready. 😉✨
I’m experimenting so I’m painting household objects now. Here is a metal water bottle, red originally, prepped, painted black basecoat, clear intercoat and flake (custom mixed flake, two sizes)(see pic). I spotted an old Jerry Can before that is in need of a paint job. Imagine that in flake. 😂
