Mark's knowledge is invaluable to us. Couldn’t agree more @russ. For anyone who’s interested there is a lesson in the Acoustic course on laminating headstocks.

RE: In the beginning we mark the nut...

@mattbeels pretty much but I’ll sand the veneer to roughly match the rough headstock profile. Suggestion from Mark is to drill an 8mm hole and ream it out to 10mm to remove chance of breakout. Don’t h...

RE: In the beginning we mark the nut...

So what’s your plan for this repair @tej? Glue on one veneer then drill out the four tuner holes and then repeat?

@tej It's neat isn't it? That guy builds a lot of very cool things, including most of his workshop, and always to a really high level of precision.

@jonhodgson that looks fun, I think if I used a lot of dowel pins it’d be worth knocking together. Certainly quicker thank my little lathe!

So the dowel cutters I have are utterly useless @tej, I saw this video just recently.

So the dowel cutters I have are utterly useless, at least two of you can guess where hey came from? 😉 Had to turn some on the trusty toy lathe. Have some ebony and Indian rosewood veneers on t...

RE: In the beginning we mark the nut...

I think I’d rather laminate it than paint it for this build, I’ll have to find some nice wood to do that with as I’ve nothing I can use. I’m presuming this is “simply” a case of roughly cutting the la...
