RE: LDL

@deej Hope you enjoy playing it. Your knife skills are noted as very impressive, looks like you’ve carved the Sunday joint a few times.

RE: Does this look straight to you?

@boo It could be you have Indian ebony, which is similar to Indian rosewood on the Janka hardness scale, but it's very much the exception. I haven't tried working the Sundari yet, but in terms of appe...

Thank you @markbailey (and Carol) what a lovely guitar. I will play her over the weekend and maybe post it...you don’t want to hear my rubbish playing though.

RE: Does this look straight to you?

Saying that, I'm loathe to use ebony because they are such an endangered species (the growth rate of the hard heartwood is incredibly slow) so if I want the ebony look I'll try Rocklite Ebano first. I...

I know not all wood is equal but would practising on say the off cuts of the mahogany neck be worth using? I don't have any spare rosewood lying around. I'd not dismiss having a go at that inlay on t...

Ebony is quite soft though, it can chip very easily I've always thought of Ebony as being quite a hard wood @Boo? Hence the susceptibility to chipping?

RE: Does this look straight to you?

If you want to do fancy inlays, ebony is probably a better choice than rosewood, the bits you have to fill won't be as visible.

Sounds sane to me, I know not all wood is equal but would practising on say the off cuts of the mahogany neck be worth using? I don't have any spare rosewood lying around.

RE: Does this look straight to you?

Funnily enough I was watching an older video of Marks where he suggested debonder after someone glued her finger to her guitar. So yes, I definitely got some in before I started inlays.

To be fair the others went in absolutely fine, more 'learning experiences' eh? Totally didn't glue my finger to my thumb either, well maybe for a split second.

Quite oftentimes they go in wonky like that. Just get into the habit of a gentle tap with a small hammer once you've put them in the hole and all should be good. 👍
