I've been having trouble signing in. For some reason the system kicked me out yesterday and I couldn't get back in due to a Google reCAPTCHA that isn't even there. Very strange. Anyway, I've managed t...

RE: Bench build

I’ve got all the butterflies in, sanded everything and applied some Danish Oil, 3 coats so far. Not a bad finish that, for a work bench. I might give it one more coat for good measure. Attachment ...

RE: Bench build

@robin I know, I’m only kidding. I’ll probably beat the hell out of it over time. 😂 I will treat the top with several coats of poly though, to protect it from too much staining.

RE: Robin's build #004

@robin 😂 Brilliant! I bet your wife loves that. It must seem like everyone apart from her, to her.

RE: Robin's build #004

@robin Hahaha….. Nice one Robin, that’s really cool. I love the fact that your wife saw rubbish and you saw a bending iron. I’m exactly the same, I never want to throw out the stuff I find.

Used a small router to hog out the majority to the waste, then fine cut the rest out with chisels. Glued one in and left it overnight. I’ll plane it down today and sand it flush. Attachment : IMG...

After glueing together the the two main pieces for the top, there were a couple of places where there hadn’t been a full coming together of the two faces. I could see that over time this could become ...

@nickkuk I’ve been considering this for some time now and I thought I would wait until I knew where in the room I was going to put the bench. If I was putting it against a wall, I would put some diago...

Answer to: String splay advice.

It’s fine, don’t worry about it, that’s where they are supposed to be. Don’t forget that the direction of the strings are heading for the outside edge of the posts, not the centre of them.

@nsj Very nice work as usual. I would be tempted to route a shallow recess for the bridge to sit in rather than install a different bridge. All your screw holes and alignment is already there, it’s ea...

RE: Airbrush kit

@middaparka There are actually larger airbrushes available, they are like a hybrid of an airbrush and a mini spray gun. I’ll see if I can find one. It would be possible with one of those and definitel...

RE: Airbrush kit

I wouldn’t spray a whole guitar with this setup, I use a much bigger compressor for that. I also use full size spray guns for covering large areas, such as a whole spray job on a guitar. The compresso...

RE: Let's try a bolt on

@swepri Fantastic! Hey, I like your hold down clamping bench, I may have to make one of those. I’m just in the middle of making a proper workbench, it’s absolutely solid. I’m going to order a big face...
