@liebe I followed the great step-by-step process from @boo that he posted in this thread: https://guitarmaking.co.uk/community/design-your-own-guitar/bolt-on-necks-and-trussrods/#post-25367 I admit, drilling the access hole was not the easiest step. I also prepared a bit more than in the pictures and made a… Read more»

@liebe It’s designed to go straight on wood, it’s a hardwax oil. This guy uses hardwax oil over stain without anything else. Same sort of thing, just different brand. Try it on a test piece.

@liebe Nice work Dan. I’ve used the liberon finishing oil on a couple of acoustic guitar builds and it turned out well. I put 5 coats of it on. I’d be interested to see some other pictures of how you… Read more»

@liebe Sweet T guitars on youtube would be the guy to check out regarding using it with stains. I tend to just go natural.

And yeh, matt/satin is where I’m at. Mine came from that place -

@liebe I’ve not used the Liberon oil yet but will probably finish my current build with it, I imagine the Crimson oils and Liberon are pretty similar, the method of application certainly is. Thanks for the kind words about my… Read more»

@liebe Yes, I have used the slim dual action rods on my builds, but they all have angled headstocks and a “natural” access under the nut. It seems a bit harder to make the adjustment access look good at the… Read more»

@liebe Thanks. Yes, there is some struggle with adjusting the heel position. All my Fenders have the adjustment in the headstock and I suspect the newest one have dual action, but I have not verified it (have not needed adjustment… Read more»

@liebe Just a couple of passes with the router left to do, top bearing bit will pass above the damage and the bottom bearing bit will pass below, so all should be well.👍
Tomorrow’s another day, onwards and upwards 👍😃🎸 -

@liebe Thanks Dan, the beer has definitely helped🤣 Your experiences are encouraging, didn’t want to end up with a repair I would see every time I pick up the guitar!! What I think I’m going to do is continue routing,… Read more»

@liebe mine is a 12 degree angle. Don’t use it much nowadays. I made a scarf jig for my table saw and it cuts really precise to where minimal sanding is the only requirement for a perfect scarf glue up.

@liebe Hope it makes sense.

@liebe Hi, your jig is perfectly fine. Your neck blank is way too thick for the jig to be able to use it properly. It is only meant for neck blanks no thicker than 22-23mm. The thicker it is the… Read more»
