RE: At it again #3 Yeah, and a tear-out when routing the neck pickup cavity. But it will be hidden when the pickup is mounted, so I didn't try to patch it up. |

RE: New black limba build Well today I finally made a start, worked everything out then got the truss rod slot sorted, fretboard pinned and headstock angle. Need to wait on binding, then shave the fretboard down and attach the... |

RE: New black limba build @russ all stable, only ever had one where the neck warped and that was a very expensive piece of birds eye maple! Yet if I've used old floorboards etc they're stil as good as the day I made them lol |

RE: New black limba build Looking forward to this one @nsj. You've been very productive over the past few months Neil. Can I ask if you've had any changes in the guitars structure since you built them or have they all remaine... |

RE: 22nd fret of a fanned fretted neck is crooked/doesnt follow the pattern @swepri Of course, why didn’t I think of that, I do generally tend to make things more complicated than I need to, one of the consequences of overthinking things!!🤣🤣 Thanks for the con... |

RE: 22nd fret of a fanned fretted neck is crooked/doesnt follow the pattern @brie Yes, you are correct. Geometrically, you only need to measure the scale of the two E strings for the calculation, since the fret wire connects in a straight line between these two scales. The sc... |

RE: 22nd fret of a fanned fretted neck is crooked/doesnt follow the pattern I don’t have any experience of fan fretted guitars and would bow to the greater knowledge of anyone that does. Would I be right in thinking that each string would have it’s own scale length and that c... |

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2) @robin Change of plan is part of the fun. What are your thoughts on the wipe on laquer? I've been looking at it at the Crimson site, but have not seen any reviews or examples before. I did try this on... |

RE: Build #3 (another original design) @rathius I sat a 12 radius block on a 16 radius board, the gap was les than 0.2mm! Took me by surprise, there's so little in it. I do 12, 14 and 16 though, basically whatever the bridge is. I like to ... |

RE: 22nd fret of a fanned fretted neck is crooked/doesnt follow the pattern Yes, I guess so. Mark recommends using a thin "fillet?" above the trussrod, but if the trussrod is level with the neck that is not possible. Others use a strip of thin masking tape over the trussrod, ... |

RE: 22nd fret of a fanned fretted neck is crooked/doesnt follow the pattern @swepri I guess so, if it works it works, problem is, is that it seems like the plastic covering chipped à bit. Could you just put like masking tape to make sure glue doesnt go into what seems to be "... |

RE: 22nd fret of a fanned fretted neck is crooked/doesnt follow the pattern @dav Trussrods do not need to be pretty! 🙂 Check for a snug fit and the function so it works both directions and that the slot for the hex key is ok. |

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2) @robin I think it would get worse with thicker strings, needing longer free length. Maybe a bridge with a little more adjustment range could fix it? If you have another A string, you could try that fi... |

RE: Robin's build #003 (take 2) @robin maybe a bit of an arse to work with some of the nicer woods are in my experience, looks really nice though Not sure on the bridge, being a hollow body means less to work with I'd imagine. May... |

RE: 22nd fret of a fanned fretted neck is crooked/doesnt follow the pattern @koendb thank you for your reply, I gave it some thought beforehand but in the end, for what I'm investing into the guitar that being mainly the hardware, wood and time itself, I chose to go ahead and... |
