RE: Silver highlights

@tej - one of the reasons that I moved away from it is because it is very susceptible to any inconsistencies with the wood, the preparation of the wood, and the application of the product. I basicall...

RE: 🎶🎸 Your Favourite Song In This Moment 🎸🎶

Damn, I've missed a lot of "songs of the moment" over the past few weeks. A bit of listening to catch up on. Looks like the usual wide range of quality music from @Russ and a few interesting ( Ƕ...

RE: What is an oily rag and where can you get one?

@rocknroller912 salmon, trout, makrel? In @JamesBisset's case, duck oil will be more appropriate than fish oil.

He just commented he might want to go for the same colour as his AC Cobra replica, which I can see working. Priorities, priorities ... Get the guitar finished in a colour/scheme that he likes, a...

RE: Wood suppliers

Agreed on the prep - I have a cheap planer thicknesser that can cope with half a body blank at a time so could take thicker wood, prepare two halves of the body, and get it joined then through my sand...

RE: Wood suppliers

As an indication ... I bought a plank of 27mm thick maple last week. 8' long, 8.5" wide. It's a nice clean plank with only a couple of knots at one end. Of course, you always hope that cleaning it ...

RE: Inlays/marquetry

I did try sanding sealer before cutting and it helped. This is a really cheap piece of wood soft and powdery. I’m sure it will be much better on a quality piece.
