Hi,

This isn't for me (I want to try my hand at finishing my own) but a friend of mine has a Fender Jaguar that is now looking a bit worn and he just asked me if I had any idea what it would cost to refinish the body (He's not into the reliced look).

Anybody got any suggestions on who he might send it to and what it might cost?

@jonhodgson

I think Bailey would be a good place to get a quote from. Mark has the best finish on any guitars I’ve seen and probably the longest lasting due to it being oil based.

Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.

I doubt very much he'd go for an oil finish.

He just commented he might want to go for the same colour as his AC Cobra replica, which I can see working.

@jonhodgson I’ll do it if you want. He can check out my Instagram page. (jacknifecustomguitars) Let me know. 👍

@jonhodgson If you get me the colour code of the car, I can paint the guitar in the exact same colours(s). Remember, I used to spray cars for a living and now guitars. 👍

@boo Thanks, I've pointed him in the direction of your instagram and made positive comments about what I've seen of your work. I think he's considering his options while he gets stuck into removing the old finish.

@jonhodgson I’m going to put some racing stripes down the middle of this Jazz bass and clearcoat it all, it’s that chameleon flip colour. I’ll use two white Pearl stripes I think. I’ll post it on Instagram too so your friend can see. 👍

@boo

It looks great, I love flip colours. I’ve got an electric fiddle in bronze/green but never get a chance to take it anywhere.

Priorities, priorities ...

Get the guitar finished in a colour/scheme that he likes, and then respray that old car to match.
