The one on the left looks Bandsman-esque and the one on the right reminds me of the Gordon Smith body shape, but with more sensible control placement.

@jamesbisset Hamer DuoTone https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/hamer-duotone-1 It’s a fairly unusual thing. A very handy guitar to have around – previous owner swapped the neck HB for a P90 (BKP MQ), the bridge is a tapped SD, plus it’s got an under saddle… Read more»

D’Aquisto – shows that there are other options that are, aesthetically, much nicer! Ovation’s sound holes are all refreshingly different – and better matched to their guitar bodies – too. I’ve got an old Hamer that has a better approach… Read more»

@markbaileyThanks for the reply Mark. Understand that the tailpieces are doing a different job, in terms of transmitting the vibration of the strings. I suppose I was really musing on the difference between the apparent strength of the fixing mechanisms… Read more»

Watching one of Mark’s recent workshop streams prompted this thought. It just took a few weeks for the thought to make it as far as a forum post … On an acoustic, the bridge/tailpiece is “just” glued to the top… Read more»
