I am going to Baileys on 8th October for a course.   I’m going with my mate Dave and his son (grown up son…) for my third course.

Going to do a set neck based on Mark’s Curve shape - I have a set of HSS pickups from House of Tone -

Matt has produced a custom humbucker - this is what he suggested

Hi, we can do HSS sets with any of our humbuckers but we can also customise the humbucker for specific tones and output.

For the best split sound usually you would want a higher output humbucker to get less volume drop when split. There are other ways around this though. We have in the past made humbuckers where one coil uses Alnico magnet slugs instead of steel ones so that when it's split down to that coil it sounds much more Fender like than any traditionally built humbucker. This is on a medium output wind will give the closest to a true Fender like sound and still sounds great as a bridge humbucker.
I think an Alnico 5 and Alnico 2 mix in a high vintage wind for the humbucker along with the '68 Specials will be just right.

Hopefully they will sound good….

Now with hardware - struck me that there was a lot of black from the pickups and then some chrome so I have swapped out the bridge, tuners and knobs + screws bolts.  Still waiting for a black Jack plate

@frocesterbill
Now it’s a proper guitar!
The black looks fine to my eyes, but beauty, etc!
