[Solved] Floyd Rose routing

When is the best time during the build to do the routing for a Floyd Rose or any locking tremolo bridge system is suppose?

Following the course the bridge isn’t done until after the neck has been glued in. However that is after all the body carving and if you’re carving the top it seems that would make it more difficult. Plus at that point the finish has been applied and cured.

Uhmm, am I over thinking this?

You should do all the routing for the trem before carving the body. You can mark it out accurately enough from a drawing if you have one. The final positioning of the trem comes from the 2 (or 6 for vintage style) mounting pins (or screws) so you can locate and drill them more accurately AFTER the neck is glued in.

Hope that helps!

Yeh what Mark says, I do all the routing while the body is flat then carve after. Whether actual carve top or just doing arm and belly carves.
