I received a Knoxville build your own telecaster kit, Ive done all of the wood work and when coming to the electrics I cant make it work. The instructions do not match. The wiring diagram doesn't tell me which wire is which etc. Ive also looked on YouTube, tried some of their stuff but still no luck.

I have managed to get the sound to come out of the neck pick up when the tone selector is on the neck. any other position and it buzzes.

The bridge pickup I cant get to work at all. Ive tried lots of different ways but cant make it work! Im on the build your own acoustic guitar course so want to get this one finished ASAP

Thanks!

does this diagram help at all. I would guess that all your black wires are grounds, and your red and black wires are the yellow wires in this diagram. The extra black wire you have at the pickup is maybe to earth the bridge metalwork. I know this doesn't help with the terminals on the selector switch, you might need a multimeter with a continuity function to work that out.

3 way import

This might be your switch, if it is then :

Solder a link wire between pins 1 & 2 and 6 & 7.

Solder Red bridge pickup wire to pin 1 and black to ground.

Solder White neck pickup wire to pin 7 and black to ground.

Solder a wire from pin 4 to an outer tab on the volume pot.

Solder a wire from the middle tab on your volume pot to the tip connection of the jack socket.

The body of the jack socket, pots and switch should all be earthed together.

If that works then wire in your tone pot.
