I visited Bailey guitars workshop on Friday for a guitar design session with Mark. I really enjoyed my visit, being in the workshop and seeing the guitars, as well as chatting to Mark and Carol who are great company and made me feel very welcome. I learned loads and can’t wait to go back some time to build the guitar! 😀

Welcome - this is an awesome forum...great support...

I'm fairly new as well timewise several months - I've been onboard awhile, but moving along like a herd a turtles. My wife and I are in Oregon, USA, and I'm working on a kinda-sorta Gibson Les Paul style for my FIRST build. These folks really know how to encourage and help with questions, so don't hesitate to share and ask for an opinion. I'm just now getting the neck pre-carved...and planning on making a Mandolin, as well...retired and loving it.

Welcome to the forum @roddy, you’ll love it here! That shot of you at the bench is great, it’s a view the rest of us haven’t seen for quite a while as Mark hasn’t been doing vids for some time now. Personally I’m happy to see that James is still hanging about keeping an Eye (of the Beholder) on things. 😉

Practice on scrap...

@poco7 that’s a great looking design - impressed you’re set up to build it at home. Lots of great support on here - inspiring me to build  the design I did with Mark last week!

@poco7 dude my wife would shoot me if I took any guitar building stuff in the house, especially the kitchen. 😂 Even to build my very first kit I had to, “take it outside.” 😁

I’m quite jealous of you guys that get to just “walk up” to Mark’s shop for a visit. I’ll have to build and sell several before I get to experience the Scottish countryside. 😁

@rathius The other option is to move to Scotland, like me. I’m not there yet but as soon as I’ve bought a house there (this year), I’ll be part of the scenery too. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@rathius

I hid her rifle ! Yikes...

Well, believe me, we need a house to go with my shop,...we're in an apt. I'm praying about finding a small shop that can be rented; housing is very scarce here, and purchasing is too inflated currently. She let's me know when it's getting to her, [ she's a good girl - definitely a musician's wife], and I take a break for awhile - ALL making of  sawdust is done on our patio...fer sure..I might have been born at night - but it wasn't Last night! LOL

Scottish country side is cold wet and miserable and that’s in the summer

@rocknroller912 here in Kentucky it’s hot, muggy, and miserable in the summer. Humidity is normally so bad just stand outside for 5 minutes and wring a gallon of water from your shirt. 🤣 Your summer sounds similar to our winter. Hmm, spend summer there, winter here…, at least I’d have consistent weather eh? 🤣🤣🤣

@rathius Yeah I do live in England actually. 😆 Not for much longer though. My wife and I have wanted to move to Scotland for many years and we now have the opportunity. It’s such a beautiful country and we look forward to making new friends when we settle in our new home. Having the Bailey workshop at least in the same country will be very handy for me. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Our Scottish weather really isn't that bad, we had a great summer last year, I think it was Tuesday in August.

I’ve experienced you’re kind of weather when I went to Ocean City Maryland and South Carolina, people dash from the AC in the house to the AC in tha car.
