Hi
I've just finished watching yet another pre recorded live steam and had to join in.
I managed a kit build from gear4music earlier in the year as a kind of homage to Jim Root / Slipknot thing.
But the real reason I'm here, I impulse bought a body blank of mahogany and then realised I didn't have the first clue what to do so found your channel to be the most helpful and genuinely loveliest of them all.
Cheers
Gareth
OK GAreth - I'm On IT!
Measure twice, cut once...
Hi Gareth
I'm not far from you here in Polmont. I'm getting near the end of my first build, iv'e been following Mark's instructions, he makes it easy(ish). I'm not saying you can't go wrong, but iv'e not done anything yet that I couldn't put right. I'm looking forward to seeing how your body blank progresses.
Robin
Hello Edinburgh and welcome to the club!
By the outline on your blank you may well be asking the same question as me regarding neck tenon width in the very near future!
Good luck and try to catch the live streams, they are a great way to get to know other members and say hello.
Darren
Hi Darren,
The blank came with the outline on it, I was contemplating a tele but I've just signed up to Marks course so who knows?
Cheers
Gareth
Hi Gareth,
Once you've got the lump of wood then, as Arthur Daley would say, the world's your lobster!
Go through Mark's design your own guitar course and come up with something completely original. Nothing wrong with basing it on a old favorite but great to own a complete one off!
Darren
I was contemplating a tele
Teles are often said to be the easiest place to start.
But that’s wrong.
The easiest place to start is with one of Mark’s courses!

Well I'm 21% through the 'Build Your Own Electric Guitar' course and I'm beginning to agree with you, and I only started at tea time
Be careful though, its very addictive. Iv'e not finished my first one yet, iv'e already got my kit for my second build and my third one is taking shape somewhere in my subconscious.
Hi Gareth, I'm sure your build will be an interesting journey no matter what you build.
