Cheers @Russ - my wife has been really ill, so lots of hospital trips and no time (or inclination) for guitar buildery stuff.ย
Hopefully she's now on the recovery path, so you've got me back here!!

Thanks guys @Tej @Russ @Marcel.ย We're past the "critical stage" now, so outlook is a lot better than it was.

I can't decide whether her voice is interesting, or annoying @Russ.ย ย
That track is a proper classic @Marcel.ย I remember watching a school band playing that, and they really gave it some ooomph.ย (We had to break in to the hall via the back doors as it was supposedly a 6th form only event).ย Couple of years later, and we were the ones on the stage.ย Ahhhh, happy days.

Here are two very different versions of the same brilliant song, one an instrumental by the amazing Jon Gomm, and the other, by a real local favourite of mine, Roxy Searle. It would be amazing to hear Roxy sing over Jonโs guitar playing. Absolutely no disrespect to either but I think youโll understand what I mean when you hear them both.
Roxy is playing at possibly the UKโs smallest music festival in August. Taking place in one of my friendโs fields, and organised by a couple of Rushden resident West End musical stars, Rushfest was a belter of an event last year and promises to be even better second time around. If you fancy an open air mixed music event without the 150k people and the mud then this is the event for you. I canโt accommodate but you can camp in my garden (toilet facilities and breakfasts provided!) and there are several local AirBNBs available, one a huge place with a swimming pool, (Iโve got one too, also available to visitors, but it is a tethered swimming lane rather than a full sized pool)
It would be great to share the day with any of you.
Cheers
Darren
Thanks for posting those @darrenking.
Can you let me know what the weather will be like on 21st Aug?

@darrenking that would be excellent to hear! Amazing guitarist and loved Roxyโs vocals too, thereโs something very special about singers who really put the effort it.

Here's another guitar player who uses the onorthodox style. You might notice the guitar made by a brilliant guitarmaker we all know.

Hi gang,
I saw the Noisettes at the Cambridge Corn Exchange a good many years ago now. It was the most surprisingly amazing gig Iโve ever seen my exposure to them up until that point largely being through advertising usage of some especially catchy choruses. The theatre of the performance exceeded anything I had imagined, Shingai singing whilst hanging upside down by her legs from a balcony being not the least of it.
The support artist that night was Tiffany Page. Again, the band was just so much better than I could have hoped for. This living room demo of โRead my Mindโ is one of my favourite YouTube videos of all time. The filming is so amateur but the performance is awesome and Tiffany puts on a show like sheโs on stage, what a pro! And, of course, the song is just one of the Killersโ best.
Cheers
Darren
