Thanks @Russ.
It was @jamesbisset (Was it?ย It was) who got me into that.ย When he got his backing band to come along and play, it got me wondering.
Though the deeper I dip my toe into the mysteries of mixing, the more I realise that I'll never "master" it.

Caedmon has (have?) a new single just out. All recorded and patched together remotely. Strange times
I'll check it out too James.

Hey @jamesbisset. I've been checking out Caedmon. Loving it...........and the whole story behind it.ย

@jamesbisset. You're a solo artist and a three piece James. I do like the confidence that you have. Cheers

That was a bit clever @jamesbisset - just a bit!
Loved it!!

My appearances are going to be slightly limited from now on.ย Back to work, which whilst only taking my time 8am-6pm, generally leaves me (A) with a backlog of other jobs to get done at the weekend, (B) generally exhausted and (C) fed up of looking at a screen.
Doesn't leave much workshop time either.
🙄

Hopefully when the dust settles @tv101, you'll be back entertaining us.ย
You look like you've really enjoyed your wee spell of creativity.ย
Keep on keeping on.

At last, having not one but two Yamaha RGX A2s paid off! Although so much electric seems to have caused a little disquiet.
I reckon your return to the grindstone is probably timely @tv101. My main camera just died and has gorn orff for repair. I need to start building my guitar and recording these songs properly and I suspect that Carol was hinting at a new phase for Acoustic Bliss too.
Itโs been fun though and I ainโt finished yet. Thanks for seeing me and raising me! ๐

Get you with all your fancy kit @jamesbisset!
😀
My "main" - and, indeed, only - camera is my iPad!
It's certainly been a fun few months.ย When I look back at my first few submissions, it's fairly embarrassing!ย The opportunity to record/submit was a real catalyst for me to actually DO something that I'd been thinking about (and definitely NOT doing) for ages.ย
Then, it was a mad journey of learnings songs, learning to sing, learning to record, learning to mix, learning to do video edits ...
I reckon each 5min song I finally submitted probably took about 10hrs of work to get to that point!ย Hence,ย very little chance I'll be doing anything like that in the near future.ย
Hope there's still some form of those evening sessions still going by then because the link to other like-minded (ish) humans, and a few hours of on-line chatting and on-screen fun has been a real lifeline over the past few months.ย ย

All your sets are great sounding and very well produced so if anyone is complaining about using an electric guitar I think thatโs picky in the extreme
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
Youre putting me to shame. I only have an iPad and havenโt managed to record anything. In my defence I will say that I left work to get away from spending all day on IT stuff.

@rocknroller912 - to be fair, I only use the iPad for the base video.ย Editing that it then a job for iMovie on my MacBook.
The audio is a whole different ballgame though.ย The mic (Rode NT1A) is way better than anything I've used before, so vocals are OK.ย But then the work done on the instruments - guitars, keys, drums and then any virtual instruments that I want to add in, then any effects, then the mixing.
I remember the good old days of a cassette player propped up at the back of a room, with an external mic plugged in if we were being flash!

My โmainโ camera is a Panasonic Lumix, which I bought when my previous Panasonic Lumix died. I only discovered last month that it was only resting. So now Iโve got two - although the little one only does 25fps. 😚
But the trick is in the software as @tv101 suggests. I record live into Logic Pro and then manually โbeatmapโ the tempo so that Logic speeds up and slows down along with my Logjam stomping left foot. Then I can do the overdubs and export along with the live footage into Final Cut.
And Final Cut is another learning experience. The multicam clip feature is amazing, but my little Mac Mini canโt cope.
Mind, itโll all be different when I get the record company advance. 🤣ย

@rocknroller912 nah, I just like to tease. Whatโs the first thing you do with an acoustic guitar these days? Plug it in!

I remember those days of recording on cassette players. About 40 years ago, gosh was it that long ago, I played in a Bluegrass band and we recorded in a living room with a decent quality stereo deck and two Calrec mics. Years later some of it got transferred to digital and it still sounds ok.

Acoustic Bliss seems to have been one of those guitar secrets, you know the ones that donโt exist cause we all share everything.

@jamesbissett
Very true there are not many places that will allow acoustic music these days, itโs all got to be amplified or plugged in. I canโt wait for the Dumfries session in the Coach & Horses to start again. Not a mic in site.
