Just a thought,

As this forum seems to have got busier of late and a bunch of like minded people have been brought together courtesy of the twice weekly Mark and Carol show, and as we're in a funny place due to the old C19, and as this is the longest sentence in the world, would it be a good idea to have a section of the forum where we can chat about non guitar related stuff?  It would need to be moderated by a grown up of course so this is probably the first stumbling block!

The other problem would be the name of the pub to chat s*** ..... The Bailey Arms? The Guitar makers Head (stock)?

Anyone else for a virtual beer?

Yeah, so long as there is no politics, I drives people apart these days as it’s been weaponised (enough, I’m telling myself off already).

Names for the pub:

Knob and Nut

Fret and String

The Knobs Head

The Peg’s Head

The Peg and Saddle

The pluck and Toggle

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Make guitars, not war 🌍✌️🎸

James, how very dare you! 🤣

No I did not vote leave, I have more intelligence than that (or I like to think I have anyway). I lean to just left of centre I’ll have you know and I think leaving the largest trading block is very bad for the UK.

See, you have started me off on politics now. I’ll get me coat. 😝

Great idea, radio 5 live had a virtual pub with Colin Murray during lockdown and it was a good laugh. I listened to it a lot when I was working late and the weather was warmer. Not doing late night shifts at the moment as I don't have any heating in my work area.

Its got to be a pub with a micro brewery same as my local. All the name suggestions are great for real ale titles but the pub has got to be the "Cut & Measure".

@rocknroller912

"Cut & Measure".

Cut before measuring, another anarchist in our midst.

@clinton My vote is for "The Scarf Joint"

Maybe Mark can open a real life pub when all is back to normal again..... One with gigs every night and Guinness and Old Speckled Hen and Newkie Brown on tap.... And bags of crisps..... And the failures of this forums members hanging on the walls..... And and and...........

Measure once, cut straight away and maybe you're lucky......

The Scarf Joint

@robin I’m not so sure, it sounds a bit like a shop that sells wool. 🤣

You're right, a totally misleading message. So, what images does "Knob and Nut" conjure up.

Brilliant idea.

I was thinking along similar, but different, lines ...

There's a great community brewing here, but a lot of the real-time interaction is dependant on Mark (and Carol) hosting the livestreams, and not objecting to the frequent hijacking of the topic and us wandering off at tangents in the chat.

The forum is great, but it's a long way from "real time" and it's also obviously constrained to the written medium.

So ....

How about a VC facility?  I was thinking about using one of the free VC tools that works on any platform (PC, Mac, iOS, Android, anything with a mic/camera/screen) and setting up an online chat space for virtual (@Marcel) meets & chats, show & tells for our guitars, help with problem fixing, whatever.

Not something that's open 24/7, but something that we could have some published hours for, and anyone drops in if/when they choose during that time.  You don't have to show your face (@boo), but it might be "nice" to see each other, hear each other, and have a forum in which we can chat about guitars, music, whatever, without it being dependant on Mark running a livestream?

A quite appropriate image @robin, given the likely clientele
