A bit of fretboard making next. Prepare the fretboard blank by planing one surface smooth and flat. Plane the opposite surface to take it down to about 7mm thick. The finished fretboard will be about 6mm.

Once I got the fretboard blank thickness I squared off one edge. I then used this edge to mark out the fret positions. I measured in 35mm from the straight edge to mark the centre line. The scale length is 630mm. Using the fret calculator from the stewmac website I marked out the position of each fret with a scalpel and square.Β

Cut some strips of laminate for the construction of the rosette. They are 3-4mm wide and about 30-50mm longer than the rosette circumference.
Then route the channel to house the rosette.

Next, I prepared the braces for the soundboard. For this guitar the braces on the upper bout are 10mm thick and 20mm high. For all the other braces on the soundboard they are 7mm thick and 20mm high. The length of each brace is about 10-20mm longer than required. They will all be taken down to the correct size when carved into shape.
