Looking great @clinton
I’m hoping to do a 335 at the Bailey workshop when things get back on track..I’ve always wondered if the centre block should be scalloped/hollowed out. It would be interest on peoples thought on what makes the best tone.
I have too many guitars...said no one in the world..ever!
I do agree @TV101 but the guitar also has there own unique tone..certain players use the same type of guitar for that reason. Tele’s are twangy etc..
And I agree with that too @deej - my comment was a little (though not entirely) facetious.
But, I question where the line is drawn in terms of how much different construction techniques affect the sound of a guitar. Would carving the centre block make a lot (any discernible) difference to the sound? It will help take some weight out, but other than that ...

Who knows @TV101 once you crank it up through an amp and everyone’s pissed they all sound the same....acoustically my make a slight difference due to being hollow bodied?

Agree with what TV said.
When plugged in it comes down to your fingers, pickups, and amp. Got an ex band mate who used both solid body and a 335 style guitar. Through his usual amp at gig volumes I genuinely couldn't tell the difference.
Guitar making is the art and science of turning expensive wood into sawdust.

It might @Deej, but then again, there are other factors that might account for any difference (if there is an audible difference).
Even if you made two identical guitars, and then played them through the exact same set-up (etc), there are too many other factors that you just couldn't isolate to determine cause/effect.
You'd never know ...

@tv101 acoustically not all 335's sound the same. My 335 doesn't have f holes so sounds slightly different from those that do however; it's still playable acoustically sitting on the sofa.
I think it's the whole ensemble of the build and the woods that create the acoustic qualities but then you plug it in and all that changes.
But they're bloody good fun !
What I think is that primarily the pick ups, wiring harness, bridge and nut makes the tone plugged into the amp. Frets come into play secondly and makes a considerable difference. Fretboard and body mass of tone wood gives a variance of sustain abd volume. Chambered and semi hollowbodies achieves more resonance. The players feel and touch adapts to those that makes the difference in playability.
