Get something like this and solder a wire to it and heatshrink the connection. Then screw it into the (already shielded) cavity, cover that connection with shielding paint and solder the wire to ground, easy peesy.
I'd been wondering about something like that @mattbeels - control cavities always look so messy with all the ground wires going from everything to everything else.
I thought maybe everything connecting to a single point, and then connecting that single point out to the jack would be neater.
I like neater.

Hey @russ, thanks for asking. A bit slow at the moment. I couldn’t be bothered to do anything yesterday so I kind of sat on the sofa. The whole day. It was pretty nice actually!
But today I ordered the stuff for the kitchen, found a small used sofa nearby, ordered some shelving units and started organizing the new logo and a sign.
I started cleaning the windows on Friday (they’re filthy and riddled with tape and sticker residue, uff) and I couldn’t bear to finish them over the weekend (or today or yesterday either 😆) but I have to get it over with tomorrow.
Then I need to make some final decisions on how to set the place up, get some new tops for the workbenches and get it open! Shouldn’t take much more then a week, I hope! 😬
Practice on scrap...
Good luck with it all @mattbeels. It'll feel great when it all comes together, especially when you get the sign up. 👍✊

and I read somewhere long ago that it’s the proper way
I've read that too now @mattbeels!

I continued with my latest Bandsman build yesterday and got a little overzealous with my new Mirka sander (I’m not bragging, I’m just saying it’s taking a little bit of getting used to). I was sanding the neck and all was going well until I realised I’d sanded a big dent into the side of the fretboard. 😳 Look on the right hand side at the bottom of the fretboard.

I had a think about it and remembered I’d bought some of those thin off cuts from @markbailey so I fashioned a small piece and glued it on with CA glue. I used some CA accelerator so I could work on it immediately. I used the dust from the sanding to push into the gaps and dropped more CA glue in there.

Here it is sanded and I resawed the fret slots. The piece I put in has a light coloured bit of wood in it so as I put the straight edge (ruler) on it, it looks like there is a gap but there isn’t, it’s totally straight again.

Nothing like a nice thick chunky heel to set. Love it
@clinton Yeah I know. The only reason this guitar is getting a full chunk neck heal is because this Bandsman is only having one pickup at the bridge. So the neck heal isn’t going to be routed for a neck pickup. 🤣
