Yes, sorry. You guys say earth, right?
@mattbeels Yeah. So, so long as all the “earths” go to the back of the volume pot and there is another wire soldered from the pot to the metal tab that is screwed into the body and covered in conductive paint, everything will be fine?
And breathe.......

Thanks for the tips on Aquacoat. I bought some but haven’t tried it yet, so I’ve got a clue about how to work with it now. If you bought it from Tonetech you could ask them for a trade account and get a reduced price. You should qualify as a trained painter hoping to do business doing custom spray guitars. They attend guitar shows and could probably help you to show case your work.
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
Electronics buffs in the UK use the term “ground” it’s recognised fairly world wide.
Professional stage sound equipment has a ground lift switch to counter the effect of so many bits of mains kit plugged in each with its own ground connections, causing an earth loop. So that’s what would happen if all the guitar internal grounds or cold wires were not taken to a single point. My understandings is it’s the RFI or hum going round in circles and getting amplified. Open to corrections if I’ve got it wrong.

@rocknroller912 I did buy it from Tonetech but I’m not sure I’m a good enough painter for guitar shows just yet. It’s a great idea though and so is asking for a trade account maybe. Cheers. 👍

Some of you may remember from last year that I needed to give my workshop a good tidy so it was useable. Well this year is no different. It’s a beautiful day here, blue sky and it feels quite warm. I opened the big door and found this (see pics). 😕

Oh dear you have a problem to deal with. I thought my workspace was bad but I don’t feel so bad now. At least I can walk on the floor. This is mine today.

@rocknroller912 Yeah that’s very tidy compared to mine. I’m getting there though, it’s looking better already. Another couple of hours and it will be reasonable again.

Ive still got lots of clearing to do, some more wall hanging space to create to clear the floor and a small stand for the bandsaw that I was gifted. Just need to get full hand use after the op.

@rocknroller912 Sounds like a plan but definitely get well first. 👍
