what’s going to be the difference between that cribbage board and the neck tenon? 🍻
@mattbeels Right, in my head 🤪 I’m thinking it may diffuse any movement coming directly from the stresses and strains of the neck. I could have just painted straight over the joint but this way it could stop the paint cracking over time. I don’t really know, I’m just trying it out to see what happens. If it doesn’t work I’ll soon know and it’s not as if the guitar won’t work, it’s just that the paint will be a little shot in that area. The version of this I’ll be building for my customer may not mind it because he wants that beat up look with Nitro, he just didn’t want a scratch plate or the tenon showing. Who knows? We’ll see. 👍 If it doesn’t work, next time I’ll use a full cap to hide everything.
What do you think?

**OHHHHHH SWEET MIRKA**
Everyone should have one of these in their workshop. It’s the first time I’ve used my Mirka air sander in anger and with it hooked up to the shop vac, it’s just...... Where is the dust? It’s just gone! 😁

Do you think the electrically powered version work as well as the compressor type?
@Russ - my good neighbour friend has the electrically powered one, and he loves it. As do I, having tried it out.

Boo is "blown away".
The dust is sucked away.
😆
But will you please stop mentioning this sander, and posting videos about it. My funds are all spent (or will be shortly), and there's nothing left for a £400 Mirka kit.

I’ve just realised that I’ve posted these pictures in the wrong thread. It @mattbeels fault.

Two guitars repaired, grain filled and sanded; I still love this Aquacoat. They are now ready for primer which I will spray tomorrow after work. Guns all had a proper deep clean today as well. Can’t wait to get the metal flake out again but I’ve quite bit to do before then. ✨✨✨✨✨🎸🎸

I've just been watching through Mark's Acoustic Build and saw how easy it is to use the Aquacoat. Great stuff.
@russ Yeah it just glides on but you have to work fast as it dries so quickly. That’s a good thing as well, it makes you work fast and you are sanding within a few minutes. Like I’ve said before, it’s main disadvantage is the price, it ain’t cheap but it’s worth it.

I’m pleased you have done a review on Aquacoat. I feel confident about using it now that I have a professional opinion. Good grain filler is worth any price in my opinion when you think of the amount used on one instrument and how important it is to the finish. Why cheapskate when we all want quality.
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
Why cheapskate when we all want quality.
@rocknroller912 Yeah that’s my philosophy on everything really. Buying anything cheap is usually bad quality and ends up being a false economy.
