This is something that I created in a couple of days earlier in the year.
It was deliberately a quick & dirty build, no plans, no templates, just a get-on-with-it and have some fun trying stuff out build ...

A well as being rough & ready, and quick & dirty, I also aimed to build it using offcuts & spares that I had lying around the workshop.
The body - American Ash - was cut out of the timber that I'd cut out of the Utility room worktop (that I made last year) - the cut out was where I fitted the sink into the worktop!
Hollowed the body out, to make it more boxlike!
Neck and fretboard were similarly bits of timber found in a dusty corner ...
The bridge - and the nut - were bolts, with the heads cut off.

I puzzled for a while about how to ground the "bridge" ...
... and I was quite chuffed with the solution
Drill a hole into the centre of the bolt.
Flood the hole with solder.
Stick a wire into that.
Thread wire through into the cavity!
Ā
I sold that one - someone who saw it decided that they wanted it (despite if being rough&ready and quick&dirty).Ā Bit ironic really ... probably the roughest guitar that I've ever built, and someone wanted to buy it!

Nice @TV1010101. These are the ones I still have
Unfortunately a lot of my CBG builds where on a camera that broke and I had thought the pics where being backed up on the cloud.. I lost the lot and a number of proper guitar build pics and vids...😭

I have too many guitars...said no one in the world..ever!
I have one build one the go for a birthday present Ā for friend. Iām a lot tighter that @marcel on the gift front....to be fair heād seen the red number plate build above and wanted that..Iāve already build a guitar for him.
Ā
i have a few CBās left for any future requests but they tend to gather dust these days.
Ā
I also have some nice biscuit tins that I had in mind for CBGās
Ā Iāve given away most of the builds but sold a couple.....then the Bailey experience happend...And thatās far more costly and addictive 🤣

I quite like a good CBG they sound really great doing slide blues. A proper Americana Deep South sound. Iāve still got the Nevada plate one above. I was chuffed as bits when I used the Ā dice as a volume nob...a homage to Las VegasĀ

I'd ignored them as a bit "faddy" until I met ChickenBone John at one of the guitar shows.
Watched him playing for a while, then went and picked up one of his (for sale) guitars, and that was that. Ā Left the show with a guitar. Ā Though it was only 3 strings, so, really, only half a guitar.
I thought I might make a series of "box" guitars but in the shape of well known guitar models. Ā Hence the FireBox one above. Ā
Maybe I'll try a LesBox next ...

Thanks, by nature I am CBG Ā parlor scale or ukelele builder. Made tons of these and all of which donated to a lot of happy musician friends and family. Just recently thanks to Mark, I finally made the jump and seem to have graduated into full on guitar building.

I make ukuleles Ā here primarily for kids for it is a right of passage in Kauai, Hawaii to promote the small island from being musical. Ā I tell parents to order hardware and I take care of the rest for some of them cannot afford to supply all their kids ukuleles. I Just finished this one today for a former co workerās 10 year old daughter. She joined the school ukulele club and will be performing real soon for the town hall. I was asked if I could install a piezo on her old existing because for she will be doing a solo part and did not want to borrow an acoustic/electric from another student. I did not want to risk damaging the bridge on her existing uke for it looked like it would tear out upon routing a deeper slot for the under the saddle piezo. Instead did a speed build and I made one instead and just happens itās a fad among the students now having box ukuleles here. I sent her a picture and she was in tears of joy according to her father. It sounds awesome! It has a natural subtle tremolo effect with the 3 sound holes and bracing and I get pure joy seeing kids obtain their custom made ukuleles and their pure love playing it. Always puts a smile on their face.

Funny that ....I was in his course to build my first one somewhere in Birmingham for 10 quid and you kept the CBG...I gave it my brother. It was the 1st build in my journey to this madness..

That's a great community thing @clinton - brilliant that your skills are able to support it.
