I have started my second Bailey Bandsman using the Build Your Own Electric Guitar course here at GuitarBuilding.co.uk
My first one was built at home by me out of mahogany and using Mark’s course. Having an iPad in my workshop makes it so easy to reference the course videos.
Mt second build will be made from different woods but the construction principles are the same, apart from one, the neck. I didn’t have a 2” thick neck blank so I’m using a 1” blank that is long enough for me to cut pieces off to stack at the heal and headstock ends. See pictures.

Work (the paid sort) has just got madly busy.
@tv101 You are lucky in that respect, I’ve very little paid income atm. I’m a gardener and my season has been devastated by Covid. I’ve had a few jobs in recent weeks (now I’m going out a little) but it will soon be done for the winter. It does mean I’ve got loads of time to build guitars (in between doing the house up), it’s a good job I’ve got a few bits of wood that I stocked up.
So I’ve got loads of stuff to do, the work on the house is an investment and the guitar building is fun and is gaining me more experience. I’ve made a little money this summer from selling a couple of guitar builds but I’ve spent the money on more wood and hardware, that’s an investment too I suppose.

You're not alone. We have a gardener here (just 1 day/mth) and he said much the same - as soon as lockdown hit, he found lots of his clients cancelling for one reason or another.
I'd opted out of work until Easter, but then Covid arrived and I wrote the year off, assuming there'd be nothing. Now I'm busier than I can remember ... you never can tell!

That's what I had intended doing with 33mm thick mahogany plank, Mark looked at the grain direction and recommended that I should cut 50mm strips, turn them 90 degrees and glue them. I was struggling to see the grain direction due to the direction of the sawcuts. That's a neat truss rod slot, hopefully my next one will look that good.
Well, I also made some kerfing planes in different width kerf sizes. 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 inch. This one is the 1/8 inch. You score a line with a 1/2 inch depth all tge way around the board and it sets a guide for the frame saw to slice through. Onced sliced, it is a bit rough. I then just run it through my portable benchtop planer or a hand plane it and a bit of sanding to flatten. I cannot afford a big bandsaw or frequent purchasing of thin soundboard/cap lumber and so I madethis. Surprisingly, I’ve cut scarf joints with it quite nicely with a lot of focus. This is my 1/8 inch kerf plane for acoustic soundboards.
@clinton Good work there with the scarf joint and sawing that cap, which is a beautiful piece of wood. Nice choice of wood for the neck too, Koa. I went with cherry for my neck. I like doing scarf joints the way you have chosen and I would have done it that way but I didn’t have enough wood. It will still come out good, I hope.

@robin Yeah I’ve got a plank of mahogany I’m going to do that with, it used to be a window sill.

Nice start Mr Boo!
I’m really struggling for workshop time at the moment. Work (the paid sort) has just got madly busy.

Three strikes and you .....

....
.... have to eat a pot of lentils.

Would the lentils and socks be clearly labelled - so we could tell them apart??
@tv101 Maybe they come as a set and after 3 strikes one would have to use Mark’s socks to strain the lentils with! Ahhhhhhh.......
