RE: BYOEG Black Stealth

@boo coming along nicely, hoping to be at a similar stage by the end of today too if the stars align and I get time!

@boo I got some supplies when they were on offer. Wait till firms want to unload stuff. I think the rosewood was £6 each ten years ago and the Ebony was £10 two years ago. I like to spread my investme...

RE: First New Electric for a While

@tej That might be a bit hard but I do have an ebony plank I got from David Dyke suppliers a while ago, not sure if ebony is good for laminating it might better just for fretboards.

RE: First New Electric for a While

@rocknroller912 can’t see why you’d need to as it’s not going to be pushing on any wood. I can’t find any examples on the internet where anyone’s taken a fillet that far either. Apprécie though I don’...

RE: First New Electric for a While

Questions for the experienced electric builders please on my practice run before going to the wood I got from Mark. Do I need to glue a fillet in to the last gap where the adjusting nut shows. I’ve on...

First job is making the blank flat and level and not having a drum sander it’s all done the old way with hand planes. That is indeed the hard way! Respect to those who have the skills to achieve that...

@mattbeels Thanks for your vote of confidence, I’ve spent some time this evening marking out the route for the truss rod channel and making sure the headstock still fits the blank. Not many mm to spar...

It may go horribly wrong. Something tells me @rocknroller912, that in your capable hands everything will be just fine. Have fun!

RE: Long time player, first time builder

@steadda. Great first build Dave. I'd reduce the thickness of the body by the thickness of the Cap. It would be one chunky guitar otherwise and quite heavy.........but I guess it is all down to prefer...

RE: Long time player, first time builder

@steadda well your first build looks great, sadly I don’t have enough experience to offer advice on your thickness query. I’d be inclined to say it’s personal preference if you’re making it chambered ...

Long time player, first time builder

Hi everyone. I stumbled across Mark's live 'Lockdown Lucy' streams during lock down in 2019, and I took his challenge when he said anyone who can draw a straight line can build a guitar. and...... ba...

RE: Hand planes

I would be worried about glue squeeze out from the fretboard getting into the channel. Old style rods in an aluminium u shaped channel I would be happy not using a fillet, but you have to remove so mu...

RE: Hand planes

Why are people even bothering with the fillet? It's not necessary with a modern truss rod. @jonhodgson If people like me are following Mark’s course then it’s from that. The reason he states is to e...
