would be possible to replicate this look using 6L machine heads
A friend of mine built a kit with fender style neck and modified it to this style, I suspect that he used the six tuners from his kit. Iv'e asked him for a photo, and I'm sure he'll reply to me eventually.
Do you think it would be possible to replicate this look using 6L machine heads or would you have to mix and match with left and right ones?Β
@russ You can buy a set of mixed tuners in that configuration Iβm almost sure of it. You may have to search for them a bit harder but Iβm sure Iβve seen them somewhere.Β

@russ Just remember that L doesnβt mean left handed or R doesnβt mean right handed.Β
Imagine you are looking at a guitar when it is on a guitar stand. Look at the tuners. If, like a right handed Strat, all 6 are one one side, that side is the left (L). If the guitar had a reverse headstock or it was a left handed guitar, all the tuners would be on the the other side, the right (R). Itβs weird, I know, but thatβs how it is.Β

Would I need staggered ones if I opted for a 4-2 setup?Β
@russ I would say no, use shorter posts for all six. Either angle the headstock or if you are going with a parallel headstock design, use a string guide bar. Whichever one you use, I think the shorter posts would suit it, I love the low profile appearance and you can make the headstock slightly thinner as well if you wanted to.Β
