what is this wood, maple?

hello

i have this piece of wood and not sure if it is maple. i think that it may be some kind of pine but not the same colour or full of knots. this has a few knots but not the same.

Hi Simon, It really doesn’t look like maple to me, too soft too open grain. If you can lark it with you thumb nail it is maple! Much more likely to be softwood but hard to be definitive from a couple of photos. Whatever it is, just don’t make a neck out of it!

It looks a little like European whitewood used in building..joists

/rafter etc.

it would work on a body and have it nice an rustic but may warp. It’s hard to see from the pictures but how thick is it? The hard part will be trying to get it flat and level.

I have too many guitars...said no one in the world..ever!
