Fisheye can be caused by contamination on the surface ( a bit of grease, silicon, or something). One of the ways of dealing with it is just to 'flood' it - effectively burying the offending particle. ...

You can wipe shellac on with a rag, a couple of coats. Then level it with very fine wire wool or 1500 grit paper. Then spray over it with 2k.

45 quid sounds like a rip-off...... Go to a good paint store, buy some quality polyurethane laquer and a bottle of mineral spirits and make your own wipe on. You should be good for about two tenners.....

Did you try polyurethane? I use it a lot as a wipe on finish. Mix 1 part polyurethane (oil based, not the water based) with 1 part mineral spirits and wipe on multiple coats (typically one per day). Y...

yeah - it was sickening... hoorah for Mark eh! I don't really play bass - you have to think differently don't you. I used cheap hardware thinking I can always upgrade if necessary. But it sounds great...
