RE: Inlay advice please

Have you tried to giving it a little slant, just for a little flow? It looks really good but to my eye is just a bit straight. Just a thought.. @mattbeels Do you mean like an oblique style where the ...

RE: Inlay advice please

@rocknroller912 The dot works. 🙂 I was considering getting the logotype cut by smallwondermusic.co.uk but that kinda depends how much it’s going to cost. Attachment : bisset logostyle test2.png

Inlay advice please

I’m casually designing a logostyle on the laptop, and I decided to print it out to get a sense of scale. But whilst most of the lettering looks feasible, it has dawned on me that I’ve got a dot above ...

RE: What did you get for Xmas 2020?

it looks interesting @boo I now know what Mark means when he says that the 335 is a completely different beast from either a solid or an archtop, despite being a hybrid of both. I think I might be in...

RE: Winding your own pick ups

A pick up might not be as sexy as a whole guitar but I think there would be a real extra level of satisfaction in having made it yourself. Amen. It’s difficult to keep up, but the recent thinking was...

RE: Workshop Weds: PINSTRIPES!!

Woah! just caught up today because I’ve been finishing my workbench and what should I spy, but a 45° cut on the corner of the BaileyBench. Phase 2 of The Workshop now sports not one but two benches, ...

RE: 🎶🎸 Your Favourite Song In This Moment 🎸🎶

RIP King of Tone Leslie West. He had this incredible sound out of a Les Paul Junior with a P90, made famous by the track Mississippi Queen when he was in Mountain. Mountain’s second album was called N...

RE: Strap peg screw has stripped out - fixes

I shaved the plug with a freshly sharpened chisel (courtesy of the honing guide as recommended by the Bailey). Then I made some dowel sawdust with 180 grit sandpaper and mixed it with a little wood gl...

RE: My 5 best tips - What are yours?

Vintage wiring Vintage or 50s wiring on the tone pot will keep your rhythm sound clear as you wind down the volume. I hate when a guitar begins to sound muddy as soon as you lower the volume control a...

RE: Bailey P90 template radius

The internal radius on all corners is 5mm OK. 1/4" is 6.35mm. So that’s gonna be too tight. 3/16" is 4.76mm (and a bee’s bollock). So 5mm sounds pretty much perfect for that ‘sharper’ P90 profile. ...

Forgive me - I can’t do Imperial. I worked in a signs and exhibitions workshop for years. I was the guy in the wee room in the back who worked the AppleMac (as everyone called it at the time). I was ...

RE: Bailey P90 template radius

Basically, all P90s are not equal. Some P90s have a bigger corner radius than others.

Bailey P90 template radius

I’ve measured up a few P90s and covers. I’m guessing they’ll be imperial measurements (because America) and the corner radii look like 1/4" or 3/16". Bare Knuckle use 1/4". Tonerider use 3/16". Even ...

RE: Strap peg screw has stripped out - fixes

Sorry to read that you didn't get a great result. My own fault. I dug out an old bit and didn’t test it first on a piece of scrap. Check twice and cut once!

RE: Strap peg screw has stripped out - fixes

Small flush-cut saw? One of the Japanese things that Rutlands sell perhaps? Oooo... Shhhh - it’s cheaper too! (although you can sharpen a guitar maker’s knife - a tool for life)

RE: Strap peg screw has stripped out - fixes

I glued in the 6mm dowel, drilled a pilot hole and then drilled out a 10mm hole with an old brad point bit. I only needed to go in about 20mm because the 6mm dowel was thoroughly bedded in at the tigh...
