RE: Pickup pole spacing

@mattbeels, I recall an article on Taylor electrics, and then man from Taylor was talking about what they considered to be the best setup, which was what they did at the factory. Part of it as I recal...

RE: Melvyn Hiscock

@boo for some reason I want to make the 8 string bass, despite the fact that I don't play bass. I'd probably have to make it right handed just so I could hear it played.

RE: Flattening Jig

I'll be buying one, it's a more than fair price, and it's just cool. Is your neck pocket jig available through Mark and Carol, or would I order that from you? (I have to sort out a Bailey order soon).

RE: Not only do I suck at routing, I suck at gluing too.

@rocknroller912, those are centre drills, their job is really to create a countersunk hole for a lathe centre. What you're describing (functionally speaking) is a spot drill, they're what you're suppo...

I’m glad that other people have admitted they don’t like fret dressing, I hate it with a passion. In principle, I think I need to work on fret dressing as a skill for completeness and to save money. ...

RE: Does this look straight to you?

@boo It could be you have Indian ebony, which is similar to Indian rosewood on the Janka hardness scale, but it's very much the exception. I haven't tried working the Sundari yet, but in terms of appe...

RE: Does this look straight to you?

Saying that, I'm loathe to use ebony because they are such an endangered species (the growth rate of the hard heartwood is incredibly slow) so if I want the ebony look I'll try Rocklite Ebano first. I...

If you want to do fancy inlays, ebony is probably a better choice than rosewood, the bits you have to fill won't be as visible.
