@markbailey, @rocknroller912,@tv,@russ,@boo,@koendb Rather than lowering the saddle, is there any possible/practical way of raising the neck? Great question,,,i think it’s at the root of the problem. I’m all ‘ pondered out’ and think the simple things are generally the easiest and… Read more»

@koendb
I always make the radius before I cut the fret slots as I find using a plane can chip at the slots. -

@koendb I must admit, with the new long beam I bought it’s a lot quicker and I get really nice results, I think ideally I would plane first then use the beam. Best of both.

@koendb I mean for the inital flattening, getting the board nice, level and straight. I’ve never tried planing the radius in yet but do fancy trying it, need to get some radius gauges first.

That’s incredible @koendb! Very similar to what I’ve been doing with the CNC machine really, except that it’s just about the complete opposite method. In awe of the hand-tool skills to be able to work the material to that level… Read more»

@koendb The headstock was originally made separately and wedged in with the neck. Since this requires quite some skill to do properly, I suspect that you already have the skills to do it “properly”. It must be so satisfying building… Read more»

Excellent @koendb. That’s a great job rounding over the neck without the use of any sandpaper. Looking forward to seeing the rosette completed. You already look like you’ve got very good hand tool skills but a course like that is… Read more»
