RE: first scratch build : a neck through 12 string semi hollow telecaster style guitar

Not another 12 string semi-hollow thru-neck Tele-esque build ... 😆 What a great build thread, and a few interesting design ideas that I might well pinch (sorry, "be inspired by") on a build ...

RE: first scratch build : a neck through 12 string semi hollow telecaster style guitar

@tyreman I’ve somehow missed this until now. Nice work man, I’m loving it. I especially like the input socket bit, I’ve thought of doing that myself. Was it Charvel or someone like that that first did...

the new tuner should be coming early next week, the company I bought the tuners from are sending me a spare one so that's a good outcome.

RE: Bathroom panel Tele 🚿

Been thinking about the ply-guitar. IIRC, @robin had a problem with a body which he'd hollowed out, but the edge then split when he applied pressure to it. If hollowing out a solid piece of timber, y...

RE: Bathroom panel Tele 🚿

@boo Cheaper kramers were plywood with a veneer on the back and front. As for the weight, ply varies, can have a lot of air pockets unless it's really posh ply lol

RE: Bathroom panel Tele 🚿

@tv101 Yeah I know, I’m going insane without a proper workshop and not being able to give guitar making my full time work right now. I have to feed my addiction somehow though, I’m climbing the walls....

Madness .... 🤣 But aren't Danelectros made out of plywood and some other weird non-"tonewood" material? So perhaps not totally mad

Stunning work Russ - the detail, the precision and the woodworking skills. I noticed a few jigs and techniques in your very detailed write-up that I thought I'll probably adopt if I ever get the ner...

RE: A new guitar is born

Any guitar - built or bought - that is fun to play and looks as good as yours does, is a good guitar. So congrats on your first build being a good one! Over the next 50 builds, they'll get even bette...

RE: Very new to guitar making (bridge talk)

Something odd is certainly happening! Usually, embedding pics here is a simple drag-and-drop process. Find the pic you want to embed and then just drag it from your PC/Mac and drop it into the text b...

RE: Very new to guitar making (bridge talk)

@tv101 oh, I’ll try an upload my photo again, thanks for letting me know! I suppose the baritone part doesn’t have anything to do with it really, all I was thinking was that it would mean that I woul...

Hi @PJ and welcome to the forum. Congrats on finishing the mandolin build. I don't think your pic attachment quite worked though, and we always like to see the photos of each other's work! Have you s...

RE: What's that? Another one?

@tv101 Cheers, I'm really not a fan of the big metal plate myself, you can create a much nicer shape and feel without it.

Lovely smooth carves and curves on that body @NSJ, and I always prefer the recessed screw (or bolt) holes for fixing a neck, just looks hugely neater to my eyes. 👍
