@koendb Bakelite does get very brittle and I’m not sure about the best way to remove it. Try some warm water around the edges. At the time it was made people only used water based glue I think and it’s… Read more»

@koendb The soundboard crack might be due to the pick guard being glued on as this prevents the wood from expanding and contracting naturally. I suggest taking it off and fixing with double sided tape to allow more flexibility. To fix… Read more»

@wayne_f I think Mark did a video on how to route a truss rod slot after the neck has been profiled. Search through the utube videos I’m sure you will find it. You could glue a veneer shim on the… Read more»

@darrenking Yes that makes sense. Even on a full size violin the notes are very close together higher along the fingerboard, so if the frets are closer than the width of a persons finger then it will be hard to… Read more»

@darrenking If you add neck stop and body stop together, where I’ve marked in red, then that’s the scale or string length. Hope you can read the page ok. Violin type instruments and early guitars evolved in the same part… Read more»

@darrenking I’ve just checked my book of violin measurements which is probably a good guide to the convention used for naming all instrument sizes. It shows that 3/4 and 7/8 are not an exact scale down of 4/4 and I… Read more»

@bpower Looks like a bad crack on the ribs under the neck joint. Factory made guitars can be a nightmare to take apart due to the type of glue used. The wood often splinters. I would try and inject some… Read more»

@steveadams Great video, the neck looks very professional. Top marks for filling the gap with a wood patch and not dust/glue filler. I think you’re being a bit ambitious with the star inlays it could all go horribly wrong and… Read more»
