I would say it’s worked very well. I started like that with no fancy tools and violin callipers which are not long enough to reach the middle, so it was a guess on thickness.

@tej Titebond is very permanent which can be good but it’s a nightmare when doing repairs as the level of heat needed to soften it is bad for the wood in my opinion, particularly on acoustic instruments where the wood…   Read more»

@tej  I would agree with you about fixing broken instruments for education but you have to know your limits and not cause further damage or try to over repair something valuable which can ruin it. Factory instruments can be impossible…   Read more»

It must be bad if you don’t want to show it. Scraping is sometimes better than sanding to remove a failed finish as sanding can just rub it further into the grain. I’ve been there so learned the hard way.
