RE: I messed up an order again

I don’t get many problems like that. I mostly do repairs and people give me more than I ask for, usually violins and bows.

RE: I messed up an order again

@darrenking I suppose I could play jazz banjo on mine but it’s really for Irish music - whoops

RE: I messed up an order again

@darrenking Thanks I know how to wind him up now. Mine was from Clareen Banjos in Ireland, cheaper than buying the parts.

RE: I messed up an order again

Think I’m the king of over ordering. In the 90s I bought lots of wood and will probably never get to use it. Going to review my stuff this year and see if anyone wants some of it.

RE: I messed up an order again

@darrenking Nothing wrong with a banjo. That’s mine with a custom strap made by a friend locally. Attachment : 7619BBA5-2042-407F-BB67-348240D5BA5B.jpeg

@lemonshoes Its not the way I would do it, but you should get some more opinions on here before starting. There are some very experienced builders on here who use power tools a lot and I mostly use ha...

RE: Neck Binding - Process (radius, sanding, etc)

@lemonshoes To route a binding channel there has to be a reference point for the router guide bearing ot a straight edge to work from, so I don’t know how you would get this unless you finished the ne...

RE: Neck Binding - Process (radius, sanding, etc)

@lemonshoes Forgot to say, if it’s your first build undercut frets are hard to do and it’s easy to spoil the binding. Are you planning to cut them to length first or file the edges after installing.

RE: Neck Binding - Process (radius, sanding, etc)

@lemonshoes I think if you installed binding on a non radius fretboard and then tried to radius it the binding would probably get damaged. For installing undercut frets on a radius FB my steps would b...

@cheesewhisk Is a guitar making video game a possibility. Virtual reality might help us to get all the mistakes out of the way.

RE: 60's Telecaster build - Which pickups?

@keondb If you need to make a curved slot try making a curved scraper to match a curved bottom nut then scrape it front to back.

RE: 60's Telecaster build - Which pickups?

@keondb Ok I think I picked you up wrong. Do you check the nut to see if it’s flat, a lot of new ones are not. I use a thin chisel as a scraper to get the slot flat and check for rocking with a small ...

RE: 60's Telecaster build - Which pickups?

@koendb I use the same set up as for cutting the fret slots but with a tapered fret board it’s more difficult to get it square. Clamps as well as tape can be used but the tightening will move everythi...
