@somethingnicer You did all the right things. It’s just incredibly difficult Inlaying onto a maple fretboard. Just keep practicing until you become the master. I have seen people use the black super glue with the ebony inlay which did give… Read more»

NSJ replied to the topic "Does this adapter exist?" – 4 months, 2 weeks ago
@somethingnicer yeh just something I noticed with mine but mine isn’t an actual dremmel so was wondering if yours was because that would make it a bit crap for routering. Last thing you’d need is the bit wobbling about.

NSJ replied to the topic "Does this adapter exist?" – 4 months, 2 weeks ago
@somethingnicer no I mean the chuck in the extension, it’s not as stable as the chuck in the actual tool. Like it has a bit of play compared to the chuck in the actual tool which is fairly rigid.

NSJ replied to the topic "Does this adapter exist?" – 4 months, 2 weeks ago
@SomethingNicer is the extension as stable as the actual dremmel? Like in my other brand tool the extension where you insert the bits has a tiny bit of play whereas the actual chuck of the tool is solid.

I can’t say that I’ve ever come across an adapter @somethingnicer but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist. I’ve always found that having the Dremel itself attached gives a nice balance but I can understand that there might be… Read more»

Hey @somethingnicer, I think @brie had hit it on the head. The figuring in wood is the grain going in different directions and potentially density. As you’ve found out this can make carving out routing a bit more tricky. I’ve… Read more»

Russ replied to the topic "12 inch nut for bolt on" – 8 months, 1 week ago
Hi @somethingnicer
The nut does have to match your fretboard radius. You could try making one from a blank but there are some premade ones out there for Strat style 12″ radius.

Russ replied to the topic "Bolt on neck and premade fretboard" – 8 months, 4 weeks ago
@somethingnicer Are you using a fret template and a fret slotting jig to make your fretboard? If you are then the template will have a notch marking the slot for the nut and then all the frets. Place the blank… Read more»

Russ replied to the topic "Bolt on neck and premade fretboard" – 9 months ago
@somethingnicer You couldn’t use it in that way for a Strat style bolt on but you could do a Gibson style bolt on. If you did want a Strat style neck then you could put the nut right at the… Read more»

Hi @somethingnicer,
That looks about right, but I’m no expert. Nitro is a nice thin finish, but is very easy to sand through!
I think @boo is the expert in finishing here. I’m sure he can give a few tips -
Dan Hawkes replied to the topic "Fixed scale by altering body. Now have toggle issue!" – 9 months, 2 weeks ago
@somethingnicer ah good news!
You could stay with 2 pickups and use a push pull as a pickup selector. But as you’ve gone back to your original plan, all good! -
Dan Hawkes replied to the topic "Fixed scale by altering body. Now have toggle issue!" – 9 months, 3 weeks ago
Hi @somethingnicer, I’m presuming you’ve drilled the hole for the switch, but not routed out the cavity for the switch and that’s what you’re wanting to do next? You are pretty close to the edge. It’s not ideal, but if… Read more»
