RE: Robin's build #002 Another satisfying moment carving the vellute today. I watched the course video again last night, then followed Mark's instructions and the vellute miraculously appeared. Attachment : 20210106_182... |

RE: Robin's build #002 @robin the subtle differences in pickups are lost on me. Don’t sell yourself short... Yes, sometimes the differences can be rather subtle, imo most of the time they are not. But, it can be a rabbit ... |

RE: Robin's build #002 The pickups, less so ... When you fancy a trip down that particular rabbit hole, take a look at the Iron Gear website. Ridiculously good VFM (made in China, but designed in UK and made to good QC st... |

RE: When the truss rod went in deeper than you remembered ... After removing the fretboard it’s bound to go all wonky so if you were to reuse it you’d have to re-level the board and then refret it, ugh... Remove it if you like for the experience but maybe Mark’s... |

RE: 🎶🎸 Your Favourite Song In This Moment 🎸🎶 @tv1 I've never seen Jools live, but I was lucky enough to see Dr. John twice at the North Sea Jazz Festival, many moons ago. |

RE: Pot holes! @blake Japanese parts are typically really good. The difference in hole size isn’t much as @frocesterbill pointed out. Just be sure to use a lock washer (already necessary) inside the cavity for good ... |

RE: Pot holes! I've bought Alpha and CTS and have to say the Alpha's are built better and turn more freely etc. @rockpile99 I like the Emerson Pro CTS pots. Good build quality, tight tolerance and a smooth turn, ni... |

RE: Pot holes! What they said above ... (though I suppose some plumbers ptfe tape around the threads would tighten things up but that's definitely a bodge) As an aside for any non-kit builds, knowing your pot dimens... |

RE: Pot holes! @blake Ok, if you haven’t routed the cavity yet then you could simply dowel the holes and start over if you prefer. Once the nuts, washers and especially the knobs are on, no one will ever see it. The... |

RE: Pot holes! Hey Matt, thanks. I’m not sure if they are CTS. Will have a look tomorrow. But I measured the diameter and they were just under 8mm. I haven’t routed the cavity yet. cheers Blake |

RE: Pot holes! @blake Not sure which pots you plan on using but CTS require a 9.5mm hole so I think you’ll be fine. |

RE: Pot holes! Hey @blake Have you only drilled the holes through the body or have you already routed out the control cavity? |

Pot holes! Hi all, I’m making decent progress on my first build with the GM kit, but have made a silly mistake and grabbed the 9mm drill bit instead of 8mm for the pots. Is this something likely to cause issues... |

RE: 99% happy ending Thanks everyone. One corner of the tuner was right on the edge - not enough to stop it working or really be seen from the front (so not worth putting in dowel and re-drilling) but it would annoy me ev... |
