What you really need next is some kind of single headed, adustable speed, servo motor driven polishing machine! If only there were such a thing!
Yes one day I would love to upgrade to a guitar polishing machine, like the StewMac one (but I’m not paying that much). This is the system I still use (see video). I use car paints so I use a car paint polishing system. I don’t know much about other finishing and polishing products so that is a whole new world for me to learn about.

The metal flake looks really good. As well as looking good, will it have a bonus of acting as shielding too, just a thought.
Thanks @robin and @rocknroller912, I don’t know the answer to that question but I doubt it will. The metal flake is completely embedded (will be when I put more clear on) in clear so I don’t think a current could be made. Whether in general it would act as shielding, I don’t know.

You could get bombarded with requests to do custom spray jobs now that you have shown your skills.
@rocknroller912 I’m happy to do anyone custom paintwork, just shout up.

Just taken delivery of these amazing flakes from America, they are pretty stunning and I can’t wait to get them onto some guitars.

Just watched through the videos @Boo - thanks for taking the time to make and post those.
Really interesting to see the detail of how its done, and the kit that you use. Not sure that I'll be heading off to college to learn the basics anytime soon though - I think you're safe from competition from me.
I'm going to have to send you a body or two to "practice" on though ...

@tv101 Thanks man. Yeah any time, send me whatever you want painting. I’m slowly coming back to painting and I’m not limiting myself to guitar bodies. I’m looking at motorbike helmets, petrol tanks, even shoes and trainers. With my new airbrush gear and the right kind of paints, the sky is the limit. Keep a lookout for the stuff I’ll be doing and it may give you some ideas, just let me know. 🤘😁🤘🎸✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

If it's OK with you @Boo, I'll leave the petrol (diesel) tank where it is. I'm pretty sure it doesn't need a spray job just yet ...
😆
(I realise you were referring to motorbike tanks!!).
But there'll definitely be a body or two heading your way. I just need to get some workshop time again.
I don't seem to have had any workshopping time of late. There's been little foruming time either. Any spare time has gone into recording stuff for the Bliss sessions, and working my way through the acoustic course lessons instead.

@tv101 Do what makes you happy you must. 👍

Do what makes you happy you must.
The main time drag has been a decorating project that my wife "suggested". Hall, stairs and landing. It was a *big* job.
But that's now done, the weather's getting warmer, and I can hear the workshop calling. Just got to get out there and start doing something before any work comes calling!!

Do you have any experience of spraying paint that changes colour as it moves around the light eg green to bronze. I think it's called transitional paint.
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
I had an 2.6 Audi A4 estate that was that shade of green! Paradise Green it was called. Bloody loved that car!
I had a few Audis through the years, though never a green one!
My first car was a mk1 Escort. Purple Velvet metallic paint. That was a real 70s colour.

@rocknroller912 The nearest I’ve come to Chameleon paint (colour flip) is a 3 stage pearlescent. They shift quite a bit but there are some really crazy, extreme ones these days. When I sprayed for a living, there wasn’t much call for special effects paint, it was all bog standard trade colours. I did a full respiratory on my mate’s van in a 3 stage pearl that flipped to blue and then green depending on the angle of the light, it was pretty cool.
So, the short answer is yes but limited. It’s all doable though but expensive.
There are a lot of crazy paints coming into the UK, especially from America, here is where I get some of mine from. Some of these paints need companion paints and products to make the special effects work properly, it can get crazy expensive. It’s a good job I’m only spraying guitars these days and not cars.

When I priced up flip paint from a panel factor a few years ago it was £200 per half litre so not for the amateur, but I've always wanted to try it. I've got a green bronze electric fiddle which looks great. People said it gave them a headache, at least I think was was the paint they were talking about.

It’s actually non existent, it disappeared a few days ago...
I still see it @mattbeels. Perhaps that’s torture just for me ... “here’s the button, you can see it, you can try clicking it, but it won’t do anything”.
Torture.
