Do you know how you would go about painting something like this onto a guitar body?
@russ Erm I would say a series of masking and painting sessions. I would start with the background and build each layer on top of each other, working further into the foreground.
I'll have a think about it and get back to you.
Would you be doing it with spray or by brush etc?

Much appreciated. Still in the planning stage. Needing to learn how to do one colour first.
@russ No probs, I might have a go myself. I’ve not done anything like this since art college about 30 years ago (maybe a little more 😉).
Lots of practice Russ. 👍

@russ You can buy layered stencils as well. Try this one. 🤘😁🤘♠️

Are you sure about that?!? I think that would be a bitch to paint and have it come out nice without tons of experience…
@mattbeels Well, the first bit would be to give the guitar a full paint job. Then prep it for the graphic and if anything goes wrong it can be wiped off and tried again until it’s right, the original paint would remain in place. Then, once the graphic is acceptable, just clear coat over it to seal it in. Obviously some practice on scrap will be required before before attempting the real thing on the guitar but it’s definitely within reach, even for a beginner. 👍
The only way to gain these skills (as with anything) is to have a go. What’s the worst that could happen? It’s just putting a bit of paint on a bit of wood and all it costs is the time it takes, even if that is doing it several times until it’s right.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and even if a first attempt is a bit clunky, it’s a record/reference to look back on after building and painting many more guitars.
It’s all good, have fun. 👍
