Hi everyone, subjective as it might be, I was wondering if anyone in the forum jas had any experience using this colt router for guitar builds. Looking at my first router and I'm seeing that this plunge is an add in cost to this palm router.
Thoughts, all in one surface and plunge or pay the additional for this and add ons ?
Also if anyone using it, could they please give a mention on how well it performs with the tasks
Thankyou in advance
Hi Andrew,
In the UK the Bosch GKF600 is the same as the Colt. It is a great wee router but there are cheaper alternatives out there. One of the advantages of this router and the DeWalt D26200 and The Makita RT0700C is that there are several guitar making jigs out there that are built specifically to use these routers. Just be careful.....you can be swept down the guitar tool rabbit hole. Rutlands do a good range of routers at reasonable prices....look out for their daily deals and you could get a wee bargain. Aldi and Lidl stuff is not bad for the price either.

In your opinion what's your take on the bosch POF 1200 ?

I haven't used this one myself, Andrew but I know a couple of people who have and they're more than happy with it.

It's a fine router, smooth etc. I mainly use it for the truss rod channel. I find the palm routers much easier to handle for everything else. Stick a bigger base on them to make them even more stable.
My latest favourite is the erbauer palm job from screwfix, has a fine adjustment, soft start, speed control etc and is relatively quiet compared to some.
@nsj I'll check that one out, thankyou. Greatly appreciate you coming back to me to share your experience. Bit of a mind field out there especially you tube reviews
