I bought one during the summer to replace an old worn bit that I’ve had for years. I used it for the body on my practice electric build. It was good enough for the job, Tungsten Carbide is harder wearing than High Speed Steel but doesn’t take as good an edge in my opinion. I’ve used both on lathe turning and always get a better finish with HSS. Old worn bits can be sharpened slightly by using a diamond stone on the flat edge, so if you have one it’s worth a try.
Some people call me a tool, others are less complimentary. Tools being useful things.
I used one of my new ones yesterday, a much cleaner cut than my old ones.
