Hi, I'm just trying to get on the forum, 2nd attempt.
I am about to start guitar building having retired and this is also my first forum,
If I can successfully send this my journey will have begun.
So you've decided to reach for the dizzy heights of guitar making.......sorry couldn't resist the pun.
Hope you enjoy the experience of guitar making and this forum.....it is some experience.
Cheers,
Russ

Hi vertigo,
You will find the most incredible support and encouragement here, and a very distinctive sense of humour! I think you’ll love it. Try to make the live streams as it’s a great way to get to know people and it’s always fun seeing Carol telling off TV101010. Can’t wait to see your projects underway.
Darren
Thank you so much for your welcome and encouragement, and thanks to Carol for guiding me initially, its just took me over an hour to get back in, I HATE PCs, but they are a necessary evil, the silly article made up a password for me and I had no idea. My next move, hopefully is to change my username to my own name, if someone could give me a clue that would be great. Oh yes the pun, brilliant Russ, took me a bit but I got there.
Regards, Steve

Hi Steve. I'm not sure what this look like on a PC, I'm just using my phone. If you're seeing this message then there should me a menu button up at the top right, looks like 3 horizontal bars. Click on that and select "Community profile", then "Account" . From there you should be able to see your name and change it to whoever you want to be. And it took me a couple of minutes to see the the pun too, I'm not as quick witted as these other rascal at the back of the class.
It may as well be the one up the ying yang the way I'm carrying on.
My next move, hopefully is to change my username to my own name,
Hi Steve
Whats your real name??

Hi Steve
Welcome.
I managed to retire and built a shed..... Then I built some clamps, because you can never have too many clamps, and then I watched 222 videos and built a guitar.
Mark said that anyone can build a guitar and it appears to be true.
I've been tinkering with "projects many and varied" but realised that I have been missing out on Mark's Media Marvels. I've just popped in to say hello.
"Hello"
There's a load of friendly people here.
all the best
Jonathan
First click on your name and that will take you to your profile
Next click on Account and that takes you to the page where you can change everything
You get extra HERO points if you can upload a nice avatar (click the browse comp button to find your best portrait pic - doesn't have to be your face if you want to remain anonymous - could be your guitar)
Measure twice, cut once...
Good morning all,
Sorry for not posting for a bit, so here's an update.....Painted the shed with old engine oil and lined it with plastic sheet and mdf/plywood, seems to be dry now.
Can anyone advise me on temp and humidity before I put any proper wood in there. I'm going to add reply because I can't see how to start a new topic

@vertigo
To start a new topic, you need to be at the "front page" of the section in which you want to start the topic. By "section" I mean the categories that you see on the home page of the forum.
Then you should see an "Add Topic" button (red) towards the top of the screen, on the right.

I'm pretty sure that my storage conditions aren't perfect, but I keep my workshop dry, try to keep it cool in the summer (though that can be difficult) and keep the temperature above freezing in winter (a small electric rad).
The wood is then stored flat, with little spacing sticks between each piece to allow for some sort of airflow.
I'm told that the presence of spiders in a workshop is a good thing. If the conditions are right for them, then the conditions are right for the wood too. (Not sure how true that is though!)

Maybe I should bring my woodstore into the house then, and tell my wife that the spiders are a good thing.
